Tripod Innovation offers simulation services to a diverse client base. Our analysis capabilities include studies of structural, thermal, and fluid systems. A project sampling is listed below.

A roller / sleeve interference fit assembly was subjected to varying temperatures and fluctuating mechanical loads. Torque transmission capabilities were subsequently impacted by the temperature changes and limited by allowable stresses. Using finite element analysis, transient thermal and structural studies uncovered the worst case scenarios. These results were applied to important design considerations, such as fit tolerances and allowable sleeve wear.

Preload values on individual bolts in a joint are seldom uniform. Actual tightness values can vary due to a litany of factors. Further complicating matters is the very real potential for the occasional missing or broken fastener. Through the use of finite element analysis, multiple joint simulations were run to better understand the synergistic effects of preload scatter and bolt failure.

Computational Fluid Dynamic analyses were conducted to better understand required mixing lengths under various flow conditions. In this study, fixed temperature hot and cold liquid streams were brought together in varying ratios. Temperature distributions along the mixing length have implications for wall thermal stresses. By porting results to stress simulations, system structural integrity can be assessed in light of process conditions.
